It could be a hormone that makes you hungry! British researchers have published a study in the Journal of Clinical Investigation that show s that people with a certain genetic variation had higher levels of ghrelin, the “hunger hormone” in the blood, as well as an increased sensitivity to the chemical in their brains. While this helps explain (only) a small part of the obesity epidemic, it does add more impetus to the effort to develop more pills to combat obesity.
